A man has been sentenced to three years of supervised release after he pleaded guilty to selling a potentially harmful drug. He was ordered to pay £1.2 million in restitution to the community pharmacy manager, and was given a three-year sentence suspended for three years.
The man, who has not been named, is charged with one count of dealing in drugs, and two counts of dispensing drugs without a prescription. He is also ordered to pay an up to $4,000 fine.
The investigation, which was launched at the request of the Crown Court, revealed that a confidential source at the pharmacy in Southport had told the store manager that he had been given a three-year sentence. The source told the store manager that a prescription for Viagra had been written by the pharmacist at his shop and was not intended for use by men.
The source then told the store manager that he had received a letter from the store manager asking that the man's prescription be forwarded to the pharmacist.

The man said he was only taking one dose a day and did not remember the amount he had written on the prescription. The source also told the pharmacy that it would cost £5,000 to send the prescription to the pharmacy and that the pharmacist would be notified of the prescription if he would give it to him. The man admitted selling the prescription in the hope of causing harm to the men who had suffered.
